A graphic novel for those people who like graphic novels. And why a graphic novel? Well, they say - and hey, does anyone know who 'they" are? No? Ok, anyway, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so it cuts down on the writing time and all that bother about punctuation and grammar.
Although there are many fine Chinese proverbs, the thousand-word-picture line isn't one of them. Supposedly, a newspaper editor said it first, but it is attributed to an advertising guy from 1921 who only said it was an old Chinese proverb so the idea would carry more gravitas.
Sticking with the whole advertising vibe, even Sumerian clay tablets, when translated by smart people who decipher ancient cuneiform using bilingual dictionaries and neural networks, discovered that the oldest written records of humanity are just flyers for local pizza places and, in this case, somewhat ironically, Chinese takeout.
And by the way, this page is sponsored by Joan of Arc Steakhouse. Feel the burn.
